My opinion after the class is I think it's good to use those perception or our mindset of understanding what are those shapes, colors, forms and etcetera.
Some examples that are given in class were a Cathedral which its shape is slim and high pointing or like being 'one-point extrude' to the top which means to imply visitors to look up to the point where it seems like it's endless or reaching the heaven. Two, the pentagon shape which symbolise the shape of a house which it wasn't. Another example would be the H-column in Seagram building by Miles Vanderohe, it was reversely used as decoration instead of supporting the weight of the building.
So, these things are like deceiving our mindset. It can make architecture become more interesting by making people feel amazed because of the twisted perception between what it actually is and what they have pre-understood. Hmm.. so i think this is one of the interesting way to surprise people by using architecture.
